When most people hear ‘West London’ they might think of quaint, green, suburban areas popular with families, they might not think of an area with a growing community of innovative coworking spaces and incubators supporting some of the UK’s most exciting businesses – but we’re here!

Central Research Laboratory (CRL) is proud to be continuing the legacy of the site where we’re based – the Old Vinyl Factory in Hayes, famed for being where the CATscan was invented and music greats had their records pressed, including The Beatles – by supporting businesses looking to carve out a space for themselves in the technology or hardware space. Read about our own coworking space and what we offer as part of desk hire here.

However, we’re not the only ones reigniting the entrepreneurial spirit of this part of West London. We’ve scoured the surrounding area, as a means of drawing attention to the great work that similar companies to ourselves are doing. We’re proud to be a part of the business community of Hayes, and West London more generally, I mean… just read up on how great it is here!

Top coworking space in West London (according to us!):

Wimbletech

Wimbletech, in partnership with Merton council, provides coworking space for entrepreneurs, freelancers, start-ups and small businesses based in Wimbledon and the many areas it’s accessible from. They’ve developed a unique model whereby they take on the council’s under-utilised public buildings and create exciting, buzzy community hubs, where many businesses have found their home. Wimbletech also incorporates two other brands: TheWorkary (other libraries), with bases across West London & Rivertech (non-library space in Rickmansworth). A true innovator in the West London coworking community!

The Food Foundry

The Food Foundry is an incubator dedicated to nurturing food start-ups by providing the space, expertise and support to turn food entrepreneur’s ideas into successful businesses. The cofounders have a wonderful story of how it all started for them: they’d been working for an oil and gas company that went bust, which was the prompt for them to follow their dreams! They’d wanted to set-up food businesses and assumed that there’d be organisations that could support them, when they realised there wasn’t, they knew they’d spotted a gap in the market.

Whose it perfect for: foodies, food stall owners wanting to upscale, anyone with a genius idea relating to food

Petit Miracle Hub, Shepherds Bush

Le Petit Miracle has created a centre for entrepreneurship and hosting local businesses in their creative retail space within Shepherds Bush’s West 12 Shopping centre – each entrepreneur has their own space to showcase and sell their products. They’ve devised a new kind of business incubator / retail hub, which offers local people a chance to become retailers, and bridges a gap within the retail space to act as an incubator. See here for their current hub members and the products they offer.

Whose it perfect for: entrepreneurs just starting out, fashion entrepreneurs, small fashion businesses looking to access retail space
